Two new powerpoints are up on iFoundry’s SlideShare slidespace.  Is Science Merely Applied Engineering (here) reviews how Sir Francis Bacon was inspired by the example of the mechanical arts in setting modern science on its present course.  Mr Spock, Passion, and Engineering (here) considers the importance emotions in engineering judgment.  Corresponding videos are in production and should be up shortly.

iFoundry has created a Recruiting Corner for public and private sector friends to talk to iFoundry students and friends frankly about different career opportunities.  The first Recruiting Corner video is by John Calvert of the USPTO about engineers and scientists who choose a rewarding career as patent examiners.  Take a look here.  Companies and other organizations interested in joining the iFoundry recruiting corner should contact David E. John J. Calvert from the US Patent & Tradmark Office (USPTO) was on campus today and stopped and had lunch with iFoundry co-directors Andreas Cangellaris and Dave Goldberg. After lunch, Andreas interviewed John on his evangelical mission to discuss the importance of intellectual property to young engineers and inventors.
