The iFoundry community is looking ahead and planning for next month’s iExpo, in which iFoundry students will display their final team projects. iExpo will be held on 2 December 2009 at the iHotel (1900 S. First St.) in Champaign from 5-7pm.  All iFoundry community members are welcome. iTeams will present their accomplishments in the world of work, service, academics and identity.

iFoundry hosted it’s end of semester event, iExpo, Wednesday 2 December 2009 at the iHotel in Champaign. The four iTeams creatively presented their accomplishments to College of Engineering administration, faculty, corporate sponsors and other guests throughout the evening. The iFoundry community is looking forward to welcoming Dr. Charles L. Karr, Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Alabama, to the Illinois campus on 7 December 2009.

Dean Karr is a three-time graduate of the University of Alabama, completing his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering in 1984, his master’s degree in engineering mechanics in 1987 and his doctorate in 1989.  Dean Karr is also the author of three books and has written 44 chapters for various publications. He has been working at the University of Alabama since 1995.

Dean Karr will be on campus to learn more about iFoundry and to meet with members of the iFoundry community and discuss its initiative. To learn more about iFoundry’s goals and activity, visit our slide share site here.

University of Alabama Engineering Dean visits iFoundry

Dr. Charles L. Karr,  Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Alabama, visited the U of I campus on December 7th and 8th to learn more about iFoundry and its engineering education initiative.

While on campus, Dean Karr met with iFoundry leadership to discuss transformation efforts at the University of Alabama. Dean Karr also met with iFoundry fellows, faculty advisors and students and took a walking tour of the engineering campus. College of Engineering Dean Ilesanmi Adesida and Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs Charles L. Tucker also met with Dean Karr to discuss the University’s engineering program.

Dean Karr also attended demo day for the ENG 198 course and watched as students presented their mechatronics projects. To see pictures from the event, visit our facebook page here.
