As engineers, our education fills our heads with math, science, and engineering science to help us navigate demanding technical work. As human beings, our upbringing and education are shaped by the stories that help us navigate our interaction with others, and our careers.
This workshop is especially designed for all engineering students, who are interested in developing best practices of leadership and self-reflection through focusing on the theme of stories. Students will work together to reframe and sharpen stories that will serve them well in student life and in their work lives ahead.
In interactive sessions, students will:
- Examine the origins of our stories and consider the ways in which those stories may support our success or hold us back
- Work through storytelling exercises, student to student, to examine how some stories help us succeed and others are self-limiting
- Work through creative leadership techniques to reconsider alternative versions of our stories, that fit the essential facts, and that are more helpful toward achieving our goals in life
