The iFoundry community is looking ahead and planning for next month’s iExpo, in which iFoundry students will display their final team projects. iExpo will be held on 2 December at the iHotel (1900 S. First St) in Champaign from 5-7pm. All iFoundry community members are welcome. iTeams will present their accomplishments in the world of work, service, academics and identity.

DesignMatters3 is hosting Mickey McManus, president and CEO of MAYA Design, on Monday, November 2nd, at 5:30pm in the Deloitte Auditorium, 1001 Business Instructional Facility, 515 East Gregory Drive, Champaign, IL.  The event is free.

The first in a new InfoStructure series (intersections between social and technological systems) will host a lecture by Jonathan Sterne of McGill University titled, The MP3 as Standard Object, today (October 12, 2009)  from 12:30-1:30pm in Room B02 of Coordinated Science Laboratory (1308 W. Main Street).

Jonathan teaches in the Department of Art History and Communication Studies and the History and Philosophy of  Science Program at Mcgill University.  He is author of  The Audible Past:  Cultural Origins of Sound Reproduction (Duke, 2003), and other articles on media, technologies and the politics of culture.   For more information about Jonathan and this series, please visit InfoStructure.

DesignMatters3 is hosting Blaine Brownell who will present Materials futures in architecture and design on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 5:30pm in Room 141 Wohlers Hall (1206 S. Sixth).  The event is free.

All iFoundry students, especially those interested in entrepreneurship, are encouraged to attend the first in a new WOW (World of Work) student development series which will feature a Networking and Initiative workshop with presentor, Cory Levy – an 18-year old entrepreneur – from 12:00-1:30pm on Friday, October 16, 2009, in NCSA Auditorium (1205 W. Clark Street).  A FREE lunch will be available 11:30-12:00 and pre-registration is required (here).
