<p>CITES (Campus Information Technologies and Educational Services) presents a <strong>&#8220;Teaching and Learning with Technology&#8221; Brown Bag on Wednesday, November 18 from noon-1pm in 23 Illini Hall. </strong>Research shows that 75-85% of students are willing to view videos online before coming to class compared to 5% who will read the book. Christian Ray and Erin Whitteck from the department of Chemistry discuss different approaches to creating and using online video materials to supplement their lectures or to deliver the entire class online.</p>

<p>On 14 November, six iFoundry students and one iFoundry student adviser will attend the NextGen Conference at Stanford University. Cory Levy, and 18-year-old entrepreneur who visited the Illinois campus on 16 October and presented to a group of engineering students, has paired up with Daniel Brusilovsky at Teens and Tech, in order to create this one day event. Participants will hear panel discussions and lectures from seasoned entrepreneurs and have the opportunity to network with experienced innovators.</p>

<p>The iFoundry community is looking forward to welcoming Dr. Charles L. Karr, Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Alabama, to the Illinois campus on 7 December 2009.</p>
<p>Dean Karr is a three-time graduate of the University of Alabama, completing his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering in 1984, his master’s degree in engineering mechanics in 1987 and his doctorate in 1989.  Dean Karr is also the author of three books and has written 44 chapters for various publications. He has been working at the University  of Alabama since 1995.</p>
