Co-Authors of “The HP Phenomenon” plan book talk for Illinois students

Co-authors of the newly released book, The HP Phenomenon: Innovation and Business Transformation, Charles House and Raymond Price, will be visiting the Illinois campus on 11 February 2010. House and Price will be holding a book talk from 3-5 pm in 106B1 Engineering Hall. The HP Phenomenon, which was released in 2009, discusses the many innovations and transformations that Hewlett Packard was able to make throughout the years while most of their competitors were unable to make even one significant transformation.

House is currently the executive director at Media X, Standford University’s Industry Affiliate research program on media and technology. Tech Journalism in a Wired Era offered spring 2010

Tech Journalism in a Wired Era, ENG 498 TJW (cross-listed as JOUR 460 TJW) is being offered on Wednesdays from 9:00-10:50am to both graduates and undergraduates as a one-time 8-week course which meets 15 Mar 2010 – 5 May 2010 in Room 1131 Siebel. This one-credit course satisfies LibEd designation in the College of Engineering and will focus on writing about technology for the public as well as how technology is changing journalism. iTeams Elect Spring Semester iChairs

iFoundry welcomed back the iCommunity on Wednesday, January 20^th during the weekly iCommunity meeting. iTeams met for the first time since the holiday break and elected new iChairs for the spring semester. The new leaders are as follows: AED elected co-chairs Matt Johnson and Jeremy Kaiser, EI elected iChair Islam Sharabash, ESS elected iChair Peter Mounche and SSE elected iChair Ramy Cohen Masri. Congratulations to our new leaders and we are looking forward to another great semester with iFoundry!

Illinois Engineering Freshman Experience (iEFX) website goes live

The Illinois Engineering Freshman Experience (iEFX), formerly piloted by iFoundry, now has a website. iEFX is designed to transform the first year of Engineering at Illinois and the experience is built upon coursework, projects, and a community that extends past the boundaries of the classroom. The program will be available to a portion of the 2010 engineering freshman.
