Inquiries in Engineering Education, a Seminar Series
The IEE Seminar Series is designed to facilitate and energize cross-campus conversations about engineering education. These events are co-sponsored by the Illinois Foundry for Innovation in Engineering Education (iFoundry), the Academy for Excellence in Engineering Education (AE3), and Engineering and Technology Studies at Illinois (ETSI).
Events
The spring series offers several opportunities to explore connections between concepts of change & innovation, the development of professional identity, and the teaching and learning experience.
Reading Group
Educating Engineers: Designing for the Future of the Field, by S. Sheppard, K. Macatangay, A. Colby, and W. Sullivan. (2008, Wiley/Jossey-Bass)
iFoundry, together with Associate Dean Tucker’s Undergraduate Programs Office and AE3, invite you to join a reading group conversation to discuss a new book on engineering education from the Carnegie Foundation. The lead author, Professor Sheri Sheppard from Stanford University, will be visiting our campus on April 14. This reading group provides the opportunity to deepen our understanding of Professor Sheppard’s ideas, as we gather for creative discussion among a core group of faculty, staff, and students about the concepts in the book. We hope that you can join us for all or some of these discussions; a light breakfast will be provided. The book is available here through Wiley/Jossey-Bass; you can save 20% with promotional code HAE20.
Meetings 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. in 212 Engineering Hall (a light breakfast will be served):
Monday, February 23: Part 1 and Part 2
Friday, March 20: Part 3 and Part 4
Friday, April 10: Part 5 and Part 6
Please RSVP to Laura Hahn (Lhahn@illinois.edu) if you are interested in attending.
